Simulation Research on Ultrasound Detection of Insulation Defects in SCFCL Power Leading

The Superconducting Fault Current Limiter (SCFCL) can effectively limit the short-circuit fault current in the transmission and distribution system, which in turn helps to improve the safety of the system. The performance of the power leading of SCFCL will directly affect the overall performance of the SCFCL. Considering the structural characteristics of the power leading of the SCFCL, a two-dimensional model of the power leading was designed in COMSOL, and simulation analysis was carried out using ultrasonic detection method. In addition, a typical void defect was added to the two-dimensional model of the power leading to study the effect of the defect on ultrasonic propagation. The simulation results show that by comparing the attenuation rate of the signal amplitude received by different probes, the defects of the power leading can be detected.
