Investigation on the AMDT Core Model Resonance Characteristics by Harmonic Response Analysis

Amorphous metal distribution transformer (AMDT) core is susceptible to various external excitations and generates resonance easily. Reducing the core resonance is helpful to reduce its vibration and noise. In this paper, the finite element model of AMDT core was established. The modal superposition method was used in the harmonic response analysis of the core, and the resonance frequency of the core under external excitation can be obtained. In the no-load experiment of AMDT core, the stress was applied on the upper yoke of the core to verify its resonance characteristics. The vibration and noise of the core were measured with a vibration measuring platform and a noise meter respectively, and it was found that they all increased.
