Modeling Single-Frequency DVB-T2 Network

Features of one of the methods for modeling single-frequency DVB-T2 networks deployed on a previously existing infrastructure are considered. A simulation model of a single-frequency broadcasting network conditionally consisting of four modules is proposed: radio waves propagation module, transmitting station, receiving station and geographic information system. It is proposed to use the Longley-Rice model of radio wave propagation and its modifications as a basis for the first module providing satisfactory accuracy for complex terrain and dense urban areas. The operating conditions of the receiving station in the conditions of multipath reception are considered and formulas for evaluating the signal quality in this case are given. A method for quantifying the quality of a single-frequency network from the point of view of its optimality is proposed. A generalized scheme of a software package implementing the proposed method for evaluating network quality is described. The operability of the complex was verified by the results of modeling a single-frequency DVB-T2 network “Vladivostok”.
