Performance Analysis of Tubular Flux-Reversal Linear Machine with Different Slot/Pole Combination

Due to low speed of the waves, the direct-drive wave energy generation system (DD-WEGS) is limited by low power density. A single-layer winding tubular partitioned-stator flux-reversal linear machine (SW-TPSFRLM) is proposed to improve the performance of the generator applied for DD-WEGS in this paper. First, the topology of the proposed SW-TPSFRLM is introduced, and compared with that of double-layer winding TPFLM (DW-TPSFRLM). Then, the SWTPSFRLM with different slot/pole combinations, i.e. 6/5, 6/7, 12/11, 12/13, are analyzed and optimized by single-variable and global optimization methods to obtain the maximum no-load electromotive force (EMF). Furthermore, the performances of SW-TPSFRLM are calculated and compared with those of DW-TPSFRLM at both no-load and load states. The results show that the SW-TPSFRLM owns about 13% higher output voltage and 8.6% higher output power, which means the single-layer winding configuration has unique advantages to tubular linear machines.
