A Case Study of E-Kanban Implementation in Indonesian Automotive Manufacture

In this study, we investigate the e-Kanban system in automotive manufacture in Indonesia. We discussed the role of e-Kanban in the supply chain on the e-kanban implementation based on the focal company perspective. The system is a web-based application used by all automotive suppliers as part of supply chain integration. Using the case study methodology, we describe the system's implementation, the history, difficulties, and differences from traditional Kanban. The study results give us a new insight into e-Kanban usage, especially the information system and lean practices within the supply chain. Findings from the focal company's perspective describe the adaptations made during the e-Kanban system implementation to lessen problems created by traditional Kanban systems, which results in better integration for internal and external supply chains.
