A Digital Model for Evaluating the Thermal Behavior of Power Cable Couplings

This article describes a method for calculating the temperature mode of the power cable line this a voltage 6-10kV and provides the results of practical experiments. To study thermal processes, the influence of the main heating factor is analyzed- the magnitude of the load current. An assumption was made about the possibility of determining the temperature of the cable line core, knowing the load current and the dynamic thermal resistance of the cable. Shown are theoretical calculations and software simulation. Based on the results of the experiments, a digital model was proposed to monitor the thermal state and prevent overheating of insulation and cores of cable lines. This model will make it possible to predict the cables technical condition, namely-to effectively monitor the heating of the insulation of cable lines, as one of the main factors that determine its condition.
