Monitoring of Railway Infrastructure Objects with PHS-1 Photogrammetry System

In this paper, we describe an application of PHS-1 photogrammetry system (of our design) to the problems of monitoring minimum clearance outline (structure gauge) of railway platforms. We describe a problem-specialized set of photogrammetry accessories. The design of our coded targets allows us to opt-out of the use of precision scale bar, which greatly reduces costs and deployment time, thus improving the system’s handling in the field. We also describe measurement techniques step-by-step and our algorithm of computation of structure gauge. Finally, we verify that our approach meets national accuracy requirements by the means of simulation modeling.
