Performance Analysis of Hybrid Symmetrical Voltage Multiplier Using Low Pass Filter

The voltage multiplier comprises both redesigned Cockcroft-Walton circuit, namely hybrid symmetrical voltage multiplier (HSVM) and low pass filter (LPF). An HSVM converts the alternating current to high voltage direct current (HVDC) with a low current according to the used number of stages. The LPF generates an output signal with reduced ripple voltage since the output voltage of HSVM has a high ripple. The work within this study develops a five stages HSVM with an LPF circuit to analyze output voltage with three different input waveforms, as well as varying frequencies. Furthermore, theoretical calculation and simulated examination are employed to compare the output voltage before and after LPF. Besides, the relative error verifies the feasibility of this restructured HSVM for wide applications. The results indicate that the developed HSVM circuit is capable to produce step-up DC voltage respected to each input waveform.
