Hardware-Software Complex for Analyzing Wireless Networks Using Spread-Spectrum Signals

The purpose of this paper is to develop tools for evaluating the influence of technologies, hardware element base and developed algorithms on the quality of low-power wireless networks using spread-spectrum signals in forest conditions that are considered complex for networks of this class. Much attention was paid to the availability of the hardware element base, the possibility of implementing technologies and algorithms on it. The hardware and software package was developed and practically implemented using low-power MSP430 microcontrollers and available transceiver modules. Algorithms for transmitter and receiver using m-sequences have been developed. The influence of the generator clock signal in the device on the communication range has been estimated. Synchronization algorithms have been considered and experimentally tested, their influence on the stability of the network and the availability of its deployment has been estimated. The originality of the research lies in the fact that the evaluation of the influence of the applied technologies, algorithms and hardware element base has been made for low-power wireless networks, taking into account the difficult forest conditions. Obtained results provide an evaluating of the performance of low-power wireless networks using spread-spectrum signals.
