Use of Elliptical Gold Nanoparticles for Glucose Sensing

We are reporting the characteristics of a glucose sensor fabricated by the use of the bio-compatible gold nanoparticles (GNPs). After synthesizing the GNPs, we have characterized them, by a UV/VIS spectrophotometer and TEM. To monitor the levels of the glucose at range of 2.8-27 mM (50-500 mg dL^-1), we have used a fluorescence spectrophotometer, while choosing the wavelength of 400 nm for exciting the GNPs localized plasmon resonances (LSPRs). In this technique, binding of glucose molecules to gold nanoparticles (GNPs), quenching the nanoparticles' fluorescence peaks, enables the glucose concentration measurement. The aforementioned linear range of glucose concentration is appropriate for the clinical glucose sensing. The proposed method is sensitive even to lower glucose concentrations.
