Exploration of Topological Data Analysis In 3D Printing

This paper based on literature review introduces two powerful techniques-mapper and persistent homology in topological data analysis (TDA) to compute a topological abstraction of the printing model in 3D printing area. After leading in the theory of these methods and application of mapper for 3D printing, this paper also learns about the advantage of TDA than traditional methods for capturing the whole structure of targeted objects especially in high dimensional data. At last this paper learns about an example which combines mapper and persistent homology using dragon dataset to get evaluation of the quality of3D printed objects and reaches certain results. In conclusion, TDA in 3D printing is very potential. However, this field need to be further investigated.
