Optimization of Controller Parameters by Simulation Model for Rotary-Hearth Furnace

Rotary hearth furnace serves for heating steel charge stored on rotary hearth and belongs to group industry furnaces with a big energy consumption. The intermittent rotary movement of the hearth is the main source of disturbances, which makes it difficult to control the furnace. Common dynamic characteristics that are difficult for PI, PID controllers include large time delays and high-order dynamics. The complex dynamic model appears as suitable tool for design control system of this furnace. There is exploited simulation model of this furnace for design controllers and optimisation controller parameters. The advantage of this approach with a complex simulation model is easier design of optimally operating controllers. At the same time the disadvantage is the great time consuming solution of optimally working controllers on the computer.
