Arbitrary light waveform generator for the validation of the light flicker measurement devices

This paper presents a simple yet efficient setup for the generation of arbitrary light waveforms. The aim is to mimic various light sources and to generate the light modulation that they produce as well as to validate light flicker measurement devices. After describing the experimental setup, some physical light flicker waveforms are generated and compared to their theoretical counterparts. The experimental results showed that the proposed setup can serve its purpose and produce modulated light with a typical deviation less than 1%, in the examined flicker metrics, compared to the corresponding theoretical calculations. The theoretical and the artificially produced light waveforms were compared both graphically and numerically while some disparities are discussed
