Improvement of ACTT is an Educational and Research Platform for Autonomous Cars and Implementation of Navigation Stack

Technological innovation in recent years is called The Fourth Industrial Revolution. As a typical example, the development of autonomous driving is thriving in the world. As the same time, there are many human factor issues such as human-machine interface (HMI) for the realization of autonomous driving. However, these are the issues that can be solved if fully autonomous driving is realized. In order to solve the issues, the authors develop a system to contribute to its realization. In this study, the authors report on the improvement of an autonomous driving technologies support platform, ACTT, developed in the past studies. ACTT has the minimum hardware configuration required for autonomous driving technologies, and has necessary-and-sufficient functions. However, the previous ACTT created in the past were complex in terms of hardware and ROS node configurations. The authors have improved them and verified them as a new model. As a result, the authors have completed the hardware of an optimal autonomous driving technologies support platform. In addition, Navigation Stack, which is a ROS package, has been implemented in the simulator in order to implement the autonomous driving technologies. In the future, the authors will actually implement it in new ACTT and complete the platform.
