Method for cosmic ray variation analysis based on the data from global network of neutron monitors

An automated method for cosmic ray data analysis and detection of sporadic effect occurrence periods is described. The method is based on joint application of wavelet transform and neural networks of vector quantization. The paper illustrates the results of application of the method during increased solar activity and magnetic storms. The efficiency of the method for detection of sporadic effects, preceding strong magnetic storms, was experimentally confirmed. It was shown that the method can be applied in on-line mode.
