Spit-Coupled O-Ring Lasers

Dye-doped rubber rings were spitted with a glass fiber to induce a coupling between the fiber mode and the torus mode that circulated in the ring cross-section. Consequently, a laser emission of the ring emerged from the fiber end. When the rings with different emission wavelengths were spitted with a single fiber, a competitive emission took place due to the coupling between the rings.
