AGC Implementation in Kalimantan Interconnection System with ICCP Protocol

Barito System has been interconnected with Mahakam System, and main control center is located in Barito. So Barito Control Center can control power plants on Barito system and Mahakam system through AGC or manually. the challenge was formed when these two systems uses different platform master control. While Barito system uses SIEMENS master, Mahakam system uses ABB master that can be hard to be controlled for the interconnection system. so a method to communicate through the different platform is needed. The common method is using multi master, but the application of this method are quiet complicated and low security. ICCP method are chosen for inter-area communication data that use Fiber optic so the connectivity speed is less than 1 ms for Ping and 1 GB bandwidth to minimalize delay, also there are backup communication using secured intranet. So, AGC Testing used 2 methods, Local and Inter-Area. Local is used to test Power Plant Respond in each System (Barito or Mahakam generation system only) and Inter-Area (using ICCP) is used to test Power Plant response in the other system & other platforms (Barito control Mahakam's Power plant). Each method will be tested on 2 conditions, flexible and inflexible condition. Flexible condition is when the Power plant automatically respond (ramp up/down power) based on frequency excursion to get the balancing. Inflexible condition is when the output power form the power plant manually inputs from Dispatcher RCC. The communication data of ICCP The reliability and connection speed respond of ICCP to control AGC will be monitored, so AGC can optimize the Reliability, economical, and the quality of Kalimantan Operation System.
