Energy Investment through Peer to Peer Lending Methods in Rooftop Solar PV in Indonesia

Solar panels have a pretty good business potential in Indonesia with a rooftop target of 6.5 GW, while until 2019 the new rooftop is 16.66 MW with market share in the household sector ≥1,300 VA. Constraints faced in developing this business include rooftop investment costs which are quite expensive and Government regulations that are less attractive to consumers, namely the licensing is quite troublesome and the transaction value of kWh exports is calculated at 65%. The concept of Energy Investment is offered to overcome these obstacles by carrying a holistic process by PLN Group (Licensing, Installation, Maintenance and Funding) along with facilitating and attracting consumers in rooftop installation. The proposed scheme is designed based on peer to peer (P2P) lending scheme in attempt to change the proportion of export energy to 65% for 5 years. The proposed scheme is able to provide feasibility for investing in rooftop solar PV with a capacity of 2,2 kWp, 3,5 kWp, 5,5 kWp and 6,6 kWp. The result is the maximum NPV value of Rp 1,182,838, the maximum IRR is 14,47% and the maximum payback period is 18 months.
