Four-Beam Antenna Array with Integrated Butler Matrix Feeding Network

In this paper, a four-beam antenna array using integrated butler matrix feeding network is proposed for multibeam coverage applications. The proposed 16-element antenna array is divided into two subarrays and fed by two types of Butler matrices. The results show that four main beams steering at ±7° and ±21° in elevated plane and the gain exceeding 13 dBi are achieved at 2.6 GHz. The proposed design has the merits of compact volume, low cost and low radio-frequency complexity.
