Optimization of the WCIP Method

This paper presents an optimization of an algorithm for planar circuits design based on the wave concept (WCIP). The optimization tools consist on a moving average and a mode rejection filter applied to the algorithm formulated for single layer circuits. The robustness of this formulation permits to solve, in spite of the frequency or physical size, several problems by applying dual quantity, although the convergence can be long and require high computational resources in the case of antenna close to the resonance frequency. The use of both tools provides a convergence along 250 iterations compared to more than 3000 without this optimization. As an example, the simulation result for a microstrip patch antenna designed for the 5G FR1 at 3.5GHz is presented and compared to the simulation result from ANSYS® Electronics Desktop.
