Hydro-pulse compressor, working process and characteristics

The working process in a hydro- pulse compressor is cyclical and consists of two phases; the first one is the formations of liquid projectiles and the second one is the movement of a chain of projectiles in a cylindrical tube. The formation of each liquid projectile occurs when the high-pressure flow channel is open. At the moment of its overlapping, the projectile begins moving into the mixing chamber, which compresses the mass of gas from the previous cycle and carries a new portion of gas from the receiving chamber into the mixing chamber. A physical and mathematical model of the working process is derived, and the characteristics of a hydro-pulse compressor with a two- projectiles flow structure in the flow section are calculated and analyzed, which are compared with the characteristics of a hydro-jet compressor with a continuous stream of liquid. It is shown that using the pulsed supply of highpressure liquid can improve the efficiency of the hydraulic compressor.
