A Smart Algorithm for selection and design of Electromagnet for Electromagnetic Launchers

With the advent of high functioning techniques worldwide especially in the field of electrical and electronics, electromagnetics is no exception. In this paper, the modelling of different variations of a particular magnet to test the force versus current criteria is done. This has helped to select a nominal layout of an electromagnet which is conducive for EML (Electromagnetic Launcher) application. The theoretical estimates were also vetted from modelling and finally, cost analysis and feasibility of this particular application are reviewed. ANSYS 2D electromagnetic suite is used for layout and modelling. This method is found to be both efficient and cost-effective in generating the force required for launch candidacies.
