A LV Islanded Microgrid with Controlled Voltage and Frequency Fluctuations for Rural Area

In this paper, low voltage PV based AC islanded micro-grid is modeled and analyzed to meet the electrical load commonly used in rural areas of Bangladesh. Droop control strategy is applied for power-sharing between distributed generation units. The proposed model has been simulated using MATLAB/Simulink to test its effectiveness. IEC 60038 voltage standard for low voltage grid of 230±10% and Bangladesh energy regulatory commission's frequency standard of 50 ± 1 Hz have been attained by the proposed model at its maximum capacity with the dynamic load being connected. Characteristics of dynamic load at every point of analysis obtained functional. The Voltage-frequency profile of the proposed microgrid has been found healthier to national grid. Load sharing between distributed generation units and their response to the faulty as well as load changing events have been noticed satisfactory.
