A Structured Innovation Strategy

Innovating for a global market out of a cost-focused engineering center has its challenges, including managing distributed stakeholders, securing engineering resources allocated to application projects, and tunnel vision with respect to innovation needs. All of these challenges must be considered when setting up an innovation management organization. This article describes a structured innovation strategy from a research and development innovation center based in India. Applying this innovation strategy has resulted in consistent key performance indicator improvements including idea per headcount, number of prototypes built for global events and conferences, and employee participation.
