Inventory Management using Color Images

This paper describes a feature descriptor for inventory management of goods using color images. The feature integrates three kinds of pixel information: 1) the color coordinates in UV color space, 2) the color cumulative histogram and 3) the sum of the brightness of the same color. The similarity between features is evaluated with the Bhattacharyya distance where the ratio of achromatic pixels is used as weights. The effectiveness and the robustness of the proposed descriptor was confirmed with several experiments.
