Preliminary Research on a Novel Voltage Drop Compensation Technology Based on External Power Supply

Voltage drop is one of the key influencing factors of power quality. Based on the load voltage-power characteristics, the on-load voltage regulation technology is analyzed to demonstrate that there is such a problem that the voltage drop compensation technology for drawing power from the grid may aggravate the voltage drop. The working principle of dynamic voltage restorer (DVR) is analyzed, which has the defect of insufficient energy self-recovery ability. Therefore, a novel voltage sag compensation technology based on an external power supply is proposed, which has a greater degree of freedom in voltage and power compensation functions and can adjust the peak-valley balance of the power grid.
