Impedance Measurement Method for Solar Cell Evaluation using a Power Converter

This study aims to present an impedance measurement method using a power converter to evaluate degradation of solar panels. The ac impedance method is used to evaluate electrochemical devices, such as fuel cells and batteries. Herein, we conducted experiments to measure the impedance frequency characteristics of photovoltaic panels under normal and partially shaded conditions. Results show that the impedance under a partially shaded condition is higher than that under a normal condition.
