Design of a Triple Band Rectangular Slot Microstrip Patch Antenna for Wireless Applications

This work presents the design and investigation of a triple band microstrip patch antenna for wireless applications. The desired multiband operation is achieved by introducing a rectangular slot on the patch consisting a substrate of FR4 material (dielectric constant εr= 4.4). , and it operates at three different frequencies of 2.4 GHz, 5.5 GHz and 7.5 GHz with return loss of -27.12 dB, -28.88 dB and -28.97 dB respectively. The influence of various design parameters on the resonance frequency has been investigated using CST and also presented here. Finally, the antenna has been fabricated by MITS Eleven Lab and measured using Vector Network Analyzer (VNA). The proposed antenna is simple and has good radiation characteristics with appreciable gain. Simulated and experimental results show that the antenna can be used for Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz), Wi-MAX (5.25 - 5.85 GHz) and satellite (7.24 - 7.57 GHz) communications.
