Production Facility Design Improvement with BLOCPLAN Algorithm

Production facility design is one of the most important factors and affects to the company performance. The production process of production facility layout is incorrect cause the pattern of material flow is incorrect and the materials movement, products, information, equipment and labor becomes high relatively causes delay in the product lead time and increase of production costs. Based on this situation, it is necessary to design a production facility properly so that problems of production activities can be handled. Improvement of facility design is done using the BLOCPLAN algorithm. The BLOCPLAN algorithm is an effective method of production layout problems. The study was conducted the comparison results between the proposed layout using the BLOCPLAN algorithm and with the actual algorithm. The results of the study showed that the reduction of moment displacement after BLOCPLAN algorithm improvement, the moment displacement obtained in the initial layout of 69096101,32 and the moment displacement after improvement of 61862200. This means that there was a decrease in the moment displacement of 7233901.32.
