Point to Point Communication Link Design by Using Optical DWDM Network

Point to point Ethernet link demands high bit rate connection to enable access network delivering high bit rate traffics to backbone networks. Optical dense wavelength division multiplex (DWDM) has been able to provide the requirement. For long range point to point link, system also needs amplifier to strengthen received signal. This paper presents network design to fulfill the need for long range point to point DWDM link. The OptiSystem v.17 is employed to design the 100 km network link by using wavelength of 1555 nm. The designed link has 40 channels and able to work for bandwidth 100 GHz. However, the best bist error rate and Q-Factor are achieved when system work for bandwidth 8 GHz.
