A comparative study of MVO and SSA optimized PID controller for LFC in EV integrated multi area network

This study aims at presenting the comparative analysis of the performance of two novel algorithms inspired by nature namely, MVO (Multi-verse optimizer) and SSA (Salp Swarm Algorithm), as used for optimal tuning of Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller applied for load frequency control (LFC) of multi area power network integrated with Electric Vehicle (EV) in each area. The comparison is drawn in respect of their tuning efficacy so that the controller is efficiently able to contain the frequency and tie-line power deviations under step and random load disturbances. The process of optimization makes use of Integral of Squared Error (ISE) as the objective function and the performance is examined in respect of parameters like settling time, rise time, overshoot, and undershoot. The Simulation models are built and executed using MATLAB/SIMULINK tool and the results obtained are discussed.
