Design of Data Acquisition System of Environmental Parameter in Riau Islands using myRIO

The environmental conditions of remote small islands need to be monitored for the purposes of identifying environmental parameters related to climate change issue. Direct supervision cannot be performed by people when considering the aspects of resource effectiveness and efficiency. This study aims to design a system that can monitor natural conditions with several environmental parameters so that the monitoring process is replaced automatically by portable devices. The proposed system will be built using my RIO processor which is a portable device from National Instruments along with supporting sensors that are used to measure parameters such as temperature, humidity, air pressure, altitude, location coordinates and CO2 levels. These parameter data will be displayed on the graphical interface in Lab Viewand the selected area in some island will be analyzed to acquire the valid environmental parameter data. The analysis result will display the data in the form of environmental parameter changes in an island from time to time and the data can be used as a reference to determine the island environmental characteristics. Comparing between the real values of sensors with the reference measuring instruments, the average error for the temperature sensor is 0.72 % with an accuracy rate of ± 5°C meanwhile the error percentage of measured humidity is 2.67% with an accuracy rate of ± 2-5% RH.
