Load recovery mechanism for resilient distribution system based on cloud energy storage

The distribution network suffers from the effects of extreme weather frequently, which will lead to system collapse or interruption power supply to loads. A resilient solution is to operate in island mode when major faults happen in the distribution system. Energy storage is very important in the island operation to maintain a stable frequency and cover the power unbalance. Based on the concept of cloud energy storage (CES), the new opportunity has been created for load recovery and resilient operation in distribution network. This paper proposed a load recovery mechanism for resilient distribution system based on cloud energy storage. Firstly the concept of CES and island operation are introduced. Secondly the bidding/offering models of the distribution company and the CES are proposed, and a clearing model is given to determine the island structure. Finally a simple case is studied to demonstrate the effectiveness of proposed method.
