Simulation Evaluation of Floating Photovoltaic Power System

Floating photovoltaic (FPV) power is a promising renewable energy that can be used to cater the demand of the consumer’s electricity. This paper aims at the simulation evaluation of a 3MW floating solar by using MATLAB/Simulink to obtain the required design. With the concern of FPV technology, a novel design for anchoring concept, which defined as “Cable expander/shrinker component, was used. Combined with a constant length cable integrated FPV anchoring system the design can mitigate the water level variations and to withstand the flood water level. Main simulation results are provided that has shown that the designed floating solar power systems create more power generation as well as it address the issue of land requirements and water usage, thus it’s be more beneficial in both environmentally and economically.
