Signal Integrity and Compliance Test of DSI and CSI2 Serial Interface over MIPI D-PHY

In this paper, signal integrity (SI) analysis and compliance test procedure of MIPI D-PHY layer are discussed using a time-domain based simulation technique. Compliance testing is a performance measure for D-PHY to ensure channel parameters are as per MIPI specifications. DSI and CSI2 serial interfaces are analyzed as per design specifications developed by the MIPI PHY working group. Simulated results are validated as per MIPI compliance specifications for various test setup. A frequency-domain full-wave electromagnetic simulator is used to evaluate channel loss. For transient circuit simulation of the channel, IBIS-AMI model of D-PHY transmitter and receiver are incorporated. Channel simulation of MIPI interconnects, including an equalizer and channel components, is carried out to validate the eye characteristics.
