Dual-Band Polarization-Independent Rectenna for RF Energy Harvesting

A dual-band polarization-independent rectenna with high RF-to-dc power conversion efficiency (PCE) is presented in this paper. To realize an all-polarization-receiving capability, a dual-linearly-polarized antenna operating at 0.95 GHz and 1.86 GHz is designed. A cross coupled branch line coupler is employed between the antenna and rectifiers to balance the uneven RF input power of rectifiers. In this way, the incident wave with arbitrary polarization can be efficiently captured and a stable high PCE regardless of polarization tilt angle is maintained.
