Bandwidth Spread of Microwave Absorber by Integrating Spoof Plasmonic structure and Resistive Metasurface

Bandwidth spread of microwave absorber attracts much attention nowadays. In this paper, we proposed and demonstrated a broadband microwave absorber which combines resistive metasurface and spoof plasmonic structure. Our hybrid absorber consists of a resistive metasurface on the top of a gradual corrugated metal strips based plasmonic structures. By adjusting the unit cell parameters, the different absorption mechanisms of the resistive metasurface and spoof plasmonic structures can be combined together to achieve a broad absorption bandwidth. Compared with the simple SSPP absorbers, this hybrid absorber has a spread absorption bandwidth. The absorber sample was fabricated based on optimized results and experimental results indicate that the presented absorber can absorb the incident microwave over 90% in the band of 5.6-14.4 GHz with the thickness of 7 mm.
