Analysis of Cluster Based Routing Protocol (CBRP) for Vehicular Adhoc Network (VANet) in Real Geographic Scenario

VANET is an add-on to Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) technology and rapidly changing, well-accepted research topic in wireless communication field as well as in automotive industries. To make communication possible between vehicles, VANET requires a continuous wireless data transmission between them and a reliable routing protocol makes such communication possible. But the speed of vehicles influences the wireless communication on a large-scale and the network topology gets unstable so, a strong configuration of a routing protocol is required. In this paper, we presented a analysis of classical Cluster Based Routing Protocol (CBRP) with optimized CBRP that is optimized using a particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique. PSO is used to fine-tune some of the constants and timers parameters of CBRP that appreciably improves the accuracy and efficiency of protocol. We created a test bed to take the VANET simulation nearer to real situations using two real geographical areas and given them a random mobility and real traffic signal following situations using SUMO. These scenarios are imported into NS2 to implement CBRP protocol and executed each NS2 simulation one after the other with different parameter settings and for varying number of vehicles.
