Gateway Selection Scheme for MANET to Internet Connectivity: A Survey

Mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is an accumulation of mobile nodes that conFigure themselves, forms momentary network dynamically and communicate with each other. The most significant problem is to find the link which connects MANET to Internet. A Gateway is mobile nodes which act as an interface between MANET and Internet to enhance their coverage and connectivity; it has knowledge about both infrastructure and infrastructure less network. Gateway selection is most significant technique to link these types of networks which should be in steady state to guaranty best services for MANET and Internet availability. The main challenge for integration of MANET and Internet is gateway discovery and gateway selection. This paper presents a survey of various developing approach for selection of gateway which are used in MANET to Internet communication. A comparative analysis is also provided to summarize the survey.
