Intelligent Document Recognition on Financial Process Automation

This talk shares a real AI application on financial process automation. An automatic document recognition flow using image segmentation, classification, optical character recognition, and a customized rule-based expert system for verifying personal financial statements, is systematically implemented to accelerate the process of approving or declining loan applications. This system is smarter than common OCRs, and it reveals conceptually how AI changes the routine jobs performed by bank clerks. The bank clerks will not read and type in the information seen on the free-style documents but only verify it, instead. Human resources are saved for more valuable work.
