GSSG-Probe Measurements with Increasing Dynamic Range through 15-Term Self-Calibration

In this paper we will describe the advantages of the 15-term error model over the 7-term error model for the calibration of GSSG-probes and explain how to use 15-term calibration for the characterization of the S-parameters of these probes. The characterization requires unnormalization of the error-networks. Depending on the used self-calibration procedure, a nonideal match-standard can affect the reference impedance of the S-parameters, as for the here used MONS5 procedure. Thus, renormalization to the designated 50 Ω impedance will be discussed. Measurements with a better dynamic range compared to state-of-the-art UOSM calibration will be shown.
