Gradient-based Clustering Routing Algorithm for EH-WSN in Transmission Line Monitoring

In this paper, based on the research of energy harvesting wireless sensor networks, a suitable scheme, which is of hierarchical topology structure, is proposed for transmission line monitoring and it is distributed and a long-chain structure. Gradient-based Clustering Routing Protocol combines the linear topology characteristic of Energy Harvesting Wireless Sensor Networks to establish gradient stratification for network nodes, and then calculate the competition value by combining the remaining energy level, the energy harvesting level, and the position factor of the nodes. Then organizing nodes elect the Cluster Head node, those with higher competition values become Cluster Head nodes, and the data messages of the member nodes are collected by Cluster Head nodes each layer, and forwarded between the Cluster Heads in the direction of decreasing gradient, and finally received by the sink node. Under the OPNET simulation environment, the wireless transmission line network scenarios, the Gradient-based Clustering Routing Algorithm is established. According to the simulation results of other routing methods can be seen that the Gradient Hierarchical Routing Protocol has a better performance on throughput performance.
