PID Control of a Fixed Displacement Electro-Hydrostatic Actuation System

In this paper presented the modeling and analysis of a Fixed Displacement Electro-Hydrostatic Actuation (FDEHA) system. The controlling of FDEHA systems is considered as viable alternatives to the conventional actuation control systems. Conventional actuators require a centralized hydraulic system, which constitutes a significant weight penalty and increased vulnerability. Fundamentally, an FDEHA system consists of the main actuator, manifold, variable speed motor, positive displacement pump, valves, and control electronics. For this study, a fixed displacement axial piston type bi-directional swash plate pump is used. This is since the suction and delivery manifolds switch their role with the reversal in direction of rotation. The motion of the asymmetric actuator is controlled by controlling the speed of the pump motor. An accumulator is used to ensure the cavitation free operation of the system.
