Improvement of DTC of Wind Energy Conversion System Based on DSIG using Matrix Converter

This work proposes an improved direct torque control (DTC) by using a matrix converter (MC) of a variable speed wind energy conversion system (WECS). The conversion chain employs a Dual Star Induction Generator (DSIG). The proposed control algorithm touches two parts in WECS, The first part is the control of the maximum power point tracking as known by the MPPT technique, where the last part, the improvement of the execution of the DTC by integrating the matrix converter to replace the conventional Back to Back converter. The MC gives a sinusoidal input and output voltages and a unity power factor, these benefits of the latter are used to improve the performances (flux, torque, speed, and input power factor) of the control scheme. Simulation results acquired via Matlab-Simulink are introduced in order to exhibit the amelioration in the execution of the suggested scheme.
