Spectrum Sensing Performance Based on Improved Energy Detector in Cognitive Radio Networks

The cognitive radio (CR) networks was used for optimal detection of cooperative spectrum sensing (CSS) system given an optimized energy detector. In the case of a single user (SU) cognitive sensing, deriving the optimum p value of the improved detetor minimizes the systemtic bayes risk by a certain number of samples. In CSS, choosing the “K-out-of-N” criterion in order to explore the influence of the change in p value and K value on systematic performance. Systematic study and simulation output show that there are optimal values of K and p in the CSS networks, which makes the bayes risk value minimum. Compared with the traditional energy detection method, it was observed that the optimized energy detector obviously enhance the systematic performance.
