Productivity Comparison Of Different FACTS And DR To Enhance Technical Indicators And Economical Operation Of Grid

At the present circumstances, inadequate development of electricity in generation and transmission sectors to meet growing demand, emphasizes the need to utilize the maximum capacity of existing systems. The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficiency of series and parallel FACTS devices as well as DR program in optimizing multi-objective function and comparing them to improve technical and economic indices to reach the maximum capacity of existing systems. To achieve this goal, the performance of different compensator devices in improving technical indicators and optimizing the multi-objective function is compared. Accordingly, considering the importance of economic indicators, optimization of economic multi-objective functions is performed. For the technical multi-objective function, among the important indicators, loss reduction, system stability improvement and system loadability enhancement are targeted. Whereas in economic multi-objective functions, meeting to the technical indicator set by the system operator and minimizing the costs are involved. With the aim of strengthen optimization processes, the Pareto Front Selection Method is implemented with the evolutionary genetic algorithm and incorporated into the process. All the solutions obtained from optimization processes are able to solve power system problems by improving technical indicators. Furthermore, by analyzing the responses, depending on the conditions of the load, the most economical choice is presented to the system operator as a valuable proposition. Simulation programs are carried out in the MATLAB and PSAT environments using the IEEE 30-bus standard test system.
