Detection Performance of MIMO Radar for a Realistic Stealth Aircraft Model

The detection performance of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar is studied for a realistic stealth aircraft model of a 2×2 MIMO radar case with a specific geometry. The RCS statistical characteristics of the aircraft model are studied with the Swerling-Chi model, the Rice model and the Weibull model. Fitting results illustrate that the Weibull model is more suitable to describe the RCS properties of this aircraft. Then, the optimal detector of MIMO radar for the Weibull scattering models is analyzed. For the comparison purpose, the detection performance of this 2×2 MIMO radar is compared numerically with the phased-array radar case.
