Optimum Three Bands for Change Detection Using Landsat Images

change detection is the important technique that used in many applications. Landsat 8 satellite provides with 30-meter spatial resolution and consists of Thermal Infrared Sensor (TIRS) and the Operational Land Imager (OLI). Determining the optimum three bands using in change detection is a challenge. The objective of this research is to detect changes from optimum three bands using Landsat images instead of detecting changes from all bands to maintain resources of software and saving time to get significant changes. The suggested change detection approach is applied by calculating the correlation coefficients between the color signatures of each two conjugate pixels from two registered datasets for the same study area acquired at different times. The changed pixels are detected and then consists a changed image. The experimental results demonstrate that the change detection using bands (2, 4, and 5) and bands (3, 4, and 5) (as another set) give results almost similar to results in case of using all bands.
