Low Noise Amplifier for ECG Signals

LNA, an abbreviation used for Low Noise Amplifier, is a special kind of amplifier which amplifies low amplitude and low frequency signals such as ECG Signal, without adding noise to the signals. This paper presents a review of various topologies and LNA configurations that have been worked upon in the past for proper collection of ECG signals. The main aspects focused upon for proper LNA design include low power consumption, proper DC offset cancellation created due to skin electrode effect, superior gain, low noise in addition to proper input and output impedance matching. The basic architecture with pros and cons of all topologies has also been reviewed. Further in depth analysis will be conducted to improve the performance of LNA in ECG signal collection.
