Droop Based Dynamic Load Sharing Approach for Islanded Microgrid

In this paper, an AC islanded microgrid with droop based dynamic load sharing approach is modeled, simulated and analyzed using MATLAB/Simulink. Voltage and current controller along with droop based power control loop are designed to provide suitable input pulses to voltage source converter for inverting DC renewable sources to 3-phase AC sources. Single phase to ground fault and abrupt load change have been considered on the load bus to test the effectiveness of the proposed microgrid model. Here, three cases i.e., faulty, load changing and normal condition are incorporated. Prevailing characteristics of dynamic load at every cases of analysis obtained functional. Voltage-frequency profile of islanded microgrid, load sharing and designed DG unit's response to the faulty and load changing cases have been found satisfactory.
